Special Session on
Designing Humour in Human-Computer Interaction - with focus on dialogue technology

Held in conjunction with IWSDS 2018

Background and Motivation

After a successful first edition of HUMIC (HUMor in InteraCtion) at INTERACT 2017 , we will be organising a special session of designing humour at IWSDS 2018 . This time, we will be focusing on humorous verbal dialogue interactions between humans and machines.

Humour embracing various types of expression can be used to enhance the interaction outcome while being socially and culturally appropriate. Therefore, in this session we aim to explore challenges in designing, implementing and evaluating humorous interactions in spoken and written dialogues with artificial entities, as well as benefits and downsides of using humour in such interactive tasks.

We are welcoming position and scientific papers (4-max.12 pages) from a wide range of disciplines, such as human-computer interaction, computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, social robotics, psychology, media, arts etc. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

For paper submission process and deadlines, please check the IWSDS 2018   Call for papers   website.
